Obtaining a Garden Permit

GARDEN PERMITS

You can apply for a Garden Permit through the City of Rochester.

There are many public vacant lots throughout Rochester, a large percentage of which are available through the City’s Garden Permit program.

Regulations

The Garden Permits are issued on an annual basis for approved, City-owned vacant lots. To be a permit holder you must be 18 years or older. Those applying for a permit may apply on their own, or as part of a group.

Five-year garden permits are available for community organizations that have successfully held a garden permit for three consecutive seasons without complaint or citation.

Fees

There is no charge for a Garden Permit.
